It's National Library Week.

This week is National Library Week!. My favorite week of the year. It is to celebrate the wonderful things libraries do everyday for everyone.

My favorite memory of a library is from my youth, the Miami Public Library located on the Bay in downtown Miami. The library was relocated from the Bay park in 1985. When I was a child, the Miami Public Library was a city library and I lived in Dade County. So my parents would buy a card every year to use the library. My parents would take me to the library and I would go to the children's floor. It was there I met a wonderful Cuban librarian who got me interested in reading. When I decided to become a librarian and go on and get my masters, she was one of the reasons I decided this would be a great career choice.

I have had many fond memories of libraries I have used over the years. Making my parents take me to the library and coming home with alot of books. I have great memories of the Brigham City Library and it's wonderful staff and patrons.

But my favorite memory was of this librarian, the tall wooden stacks along the walls in the children's room, the windows that opened out to the Bay and the park below. For this librarian gave me the gift of reading.

What is your favorite memory of a library or a librarian. Share it with us my hitting the comments button and adding a comment.
