Pulitzer in the categories of fiction and nonfiction announced.

NEW YORK - Cormac McCarthy won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction Monday for his sparse, apocalyptic novel, “The Road.” The book, a sparely written story of a father and son trying to survive as they wander through a burned and bare landscape, was recently picked by Oprah Winfrey as her new book club selection.The award for general nonfiction was given to Lawrence Wright for his book, “The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11,” a penetrating analysis of how Islamic fundamentalism has reshaped the modern world.Read the rest of the article here.
