I have to say, I usually always enjoy ULA (Utah Library Association) conferences. It is a pleasure to meet with my peers, find out what is new in the Library world, see what the vendors have to offer libraries that is different, find out great new ideas for programming, reading, services and outreach. This year was especially exciting as we got a chance to visit with a new, energetic author whose books sound as fast paced as he is. (See Brandon Sanderson's photo on Michele's post earlier.)
Yes, I'm afraid Brandon has let the cat out of the bag - Librarians DO rule the world.....although not all of us are evil.
I had a great deal of fun at the Anime & Manga session where the presenters were dressed in their Cosplay outfits and introduced us to the different kinds of Manga and Anime to watch for. I would love to attend the Anime Vegas Convention. Oh, and Mom? I would really like it if you would make this costume for me! I'm sure the online cost is more than I can afford, but you could throw this together in no time, right?
But - oh, how I was disappointed in the food. The luncheon and the President's Party on Thursday, the food was cold and service was slow. Then, we went out to eat at Ottavio's

Ristorante Italiano for dinner and, although the food was excellent, the service - from wait time when we arrived, to waiting for our food, to waiting for our bill, to waiting for change back - was attrocious. We spent a good two hours and it was not especially pleasant as most of it was waiting, waiting, waiting. For lunch on Friday, we decided not to risk a cold, slow lunch again and chose to go to Los Hermanos Mexican Restaurant. http://www.loshermanosrestaurants.com/The service was excellent, the food was delicious and very conducive to pleasant and productive conversation.
These are my thoughts (and in no way connected to the Brigham Library or Brigham City Corp. or ULA) and I take all the blame and credit. Connie

I've visited Ottavio's too and the food is great, but it's very frustrating to wait. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait and we waited for 45. Then we were told that once we got in we would be served quickly, but it took us 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Even with lots of conversation we got very bored.
