The temperature is finally warming up and our thoughts are turning to summer activities and fun. Summer for some is also a chance for reading and relaxation. Whether on an airplane, on the beach, by the pool, at the park, or in a hammock in your own backyard books make pleasant companions. What sort of book though?
Will you be catching up on some of the classics, reading the works of your favorite mystery author, or enjoying a delightfully light "beach read"? Tell us about your summer reading plans, by adding a comment to this blog.
I have been looking for the perfect books to put in my baggage for my trips this summer. With the restrictions on pounds allowed per bag, I will be taking paperbacks and my portable MP3 player downloaded with a book from Netlibrary. What books will I be taking? I am taking a few Mercedes Lackey books. I really like her Valdemar series. I just a thing about any fantasy that has animals who communciate and bond with humans. Thats why I like the flying dragons of Pern and Ponch the dog of "Wizards at War" by Diane Duane and the companion horses (or horse gods) of Valdemar. I will
also be taking a couple of P.D. James...and English mystery writer that I have not read before.

I always take too many books, but for a librarian what can be worse than not having that perfect book to read. However going to bookstores is also fun.
