Back to School

Hooray!
It's Back to School Time
By: Michele, Children's Librarian
Here at the library we have a short pause between the craziness of Summer Reading and Back to School time. Come the first day of classes however, the teachers will assign that required reading and we will be back to our busy schedules again.

On my wish list for this school year; teachers who call ahead with assignments. Our staff can help students when they arrive to do research or write a paper. Every year we have students walk through the front door that have forgotten what exactly their teacher assigned! They want help but our staff doesn't know what the teacher wants. We also have had a teacher give an assignment and the first child from the class, arrives at the library and checks out all the available titles for that subject, leaving the next student with nothing. We could hold these items on reserve for a group of students to use at the library, if only the teacher called ahead and requested we do so.

Newly arrived are some fun school titles for younger children: Make New Friends by Rosemary Wells, The Book Fair from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler, How do Dinosaurs go to School? by Jane Yolen. Also new is, Cornelius P. Mud Are you ready for School? by Barney Saltzberg.

Best Wishes to all the students headed back to classes next Monday!
