Friends of the Library Booksale

It's time, once again, to start thinking about the Friends of the Library Book sale. We've been collecting books in our two small storage rooms since last September and they're getting very full. We have books stacked two and three deep on the shelves. A couple of very organized volunteers help us pack the books on the shelves to get the optimal storage space. Of course, we're wistful about that new library we might have had and the dreams of more storage space. As it is, however, we'll continue to pack as tight as we can.

Next Monday we'll have a few more volunteers help remove all of those books, videos, cd, bot's and other miscellaneous sundry from the storage rooms and haul them all into our auditorium and conference rooms. Others will be in charge of sorting the books so we get them into some order for browsing - fiction - science fiction - nonfiction - children's, etc. Books that have been part of the collection are easy to sort because they have the spine tags but donated books take a moment of consideration.

We have a lot of people donate books to the library and we are very glad to get those donations. Now is the time for you to donate your books if you have a closet full you want to get rid of. We won't have to store them now and they can go straight into the sale. You can bring in donations for our sale anytime that it is going on. Those books will give people an incentive to come look again - there might be something new!

The Book sale will begin on Thursday, August 23rd at 7 p.m. for anyone who joins Friends of the Library. This is a $2 donation for an individual and $5 for a family. This gives our Friends an opportunity to have first pick of the best items in our book sale and it is usually very well attended. The sale is open to the general public on Friday, August 24th, and runs through Peach Days during library hours. We hope to see you there!
