Robert Jordan

Our library director, Sue, has decided that I am the obituary writer for deceased authors on our blog. I guess I've garnered that position for usually noting the passing of an author I've read and enjoyed. I'm sorry to say I haven't read anything by Robert Jordan though I'm sure he's got a very loyal following among our patrons. It looks that we have 15 of his books in our collection. He is responsible for Conan the Barbarian and Wheel of Time series.

Jordan died on September 16, 2007 from complications of cardiac amyloidosis. His real name was James Oliver Rigney, Jr. and he also wrote under the pen name of Reagan O'Neal. His website is at http://www.dragonmount.com/ His wife, Harriet, writes on his blog that he checked his blog first thing everyday, when he was able, and that personal e-mails really mattered to him.

He was working on the last volume of the Wheel of Time Books at the time of his death. He warned that this would be a 1500-page monster because he had so many dangling plot threads to wrap up. He had given members of his family the plot details so, hopefully, someone can follow through with "A Memory of Light" until it is completed.
