Closed Friday

It seems our blog has been pretty quiet since Christmas. We've been back to work since the 26th, but I guess our thoughts are elsewhere than on the blog. A few patrons have forgotten that it is the last Friday of the month and our closed Friday. I'm sure it's a pain to get out in the cold weather to come to the library only to find it closed.

Closed Fridays are very beneficial to our staff even though it sometimes seem inconvenient to everyone else. It is the only time the staff can work on projects that might otherwise get in some library user's way. We use this day to change a lot of our displays and signage. You might notice when you come in the Saturday after, that we've usually come up with new book displays and changed the display in the entry. Connie, the children's librarian, was actually having to stand on the counter to change some of her signage today. She couldn't do that if people were here using the library.

We also use our closed Fridays to have some major work done to the library like cleaning the carpets, painting walls or shelves, installing shelves or taking them down, moving books around, working on the heating, plumbing, etc. , all so much easier when you don't have to be quiet and you don't have to work around anyone.

So, we apologize for the inconvenience, but we are in here working for the good of the public so things work smoother and are more attractive and comfortable the next time you come in.

Susan
