The library must be the place to be today. Before Christmas, the parking lot was almost empty. Today when I came back into work at 6 p.m., the parking lot was full and inside the library was just buzzing with people. We try to track how many people check out during each shift so we know that 500 people checked out between 10 and 1 p.m. and another 606 checked out between 1 and 5 p.m. for a total of 1,106 people so far today. That doesn't include all the people who just brought books back to be checked in. It has quieted down now but is still busier than before Christmas. I wonder what the total will be by the time we leave at 9 p.m. We've definitely got to get out our running shoes if this trend continues. Circulation for a day that keeps us hopping is usually in the 700 or 800's so today is off the charts!
