Upcoming Celeb Titles

Several celebrities have children's books in the pipeline:This fall S&S will publish a picture-book version of Bob Dylan's song Forever Young. Rapper Snoop Dogg is writing a series for children, called Where's the Cheese. And country singer Tim McGraw has a fall picture book with Thomas Nelson.

So the question begs to be asked, does being a celebrity make you capable of writing a book? I have found over the years that very few celeb titles are worth the effort. With the exception of John Lithgow's Marsupial Sue and Jamie Lee Curtis' s Today I feel Silly, these books are self indulgent and poorly written. Sometimes they are only a reflection of a famous persons previous work, as in Billy Joel's Goodnight my Angel, which features his lyrics with beautiful illustrations by Yvonne Gilbert.

Celeb's have ventured into all genres, from self-help diet books and advice books to novels. Maybe they should stick to writing their memoirs with a ghost writer and save us the agony of reading their personal indulgences.
