I cannot believe that my holiday vacation is over and that I have been back to work since Monday! Where has the time gone. It can't be the 8th already. How's your week going? Here is how mine has been.
I came back to a cold children's department, the furnace must have broken while I was off. The staff noticed that it was cold over there and brought our birds into the back room to stay warm. Our building maintenence man thought that it was just the thermostat programmed incorrectly, he reprogrammed it, but to no avail. They climbed up to the roof, where the furnace is located and found that the temperature gauge was broken and not telling the furnace to turn on. Well, he fixed it and now I am warm and comfortable. The problem now is that Susan is too hot upstairs, heat rises as we all know, so she has turned off the heat in her department. She was joking that she is the one that needs it a little cooler, being a women of mature years.
That was one problem fixed. My computer is also down. It's new, only a couple of months old, so the part that has gone bad can be replaced under warranty. That is great, I only have to wait for the part to show up and for our computer guy to get over the flu and find time to come to Brigham City and install it. In the meantime, I am using everyone else's computer when they are gone or at lunch or trying to find non-computer projects to work on. It's amazing how few of these I have. I use the comptuer for everything! I took down all the Christmas decorations in the Children's department and redid all the bulletin boards, did new book displays, made some new signs, worked on storing all the Christmas books, and rearranged some things on my desk. I will be doing some cleaning next, and if I get desperate I will begin planning summer reading, which I don't really want to think about.
Is it Saturday yet?
Michele, Children's Librarian
