Volunteers and Volunteer Projects

At the library we always see an increase in the number of people volunteering over the summer months and it's wonderful. This summer we've had even more volunteers than usual - teens/pre-teens and adults. I think there are a lot of people in our community that like to volunteer and we're very lucky to live in a community like that. But sometimes it gets hard to know where the volunteer opportunities are.

Now there's a website called serve.gov where people can post volunteer opportunities for others to see. If you're looking for a project to help with you can also go to serve.gov to look up volunteer opportunities in your area.

It's a great way to help everyone in the community, even if you only have a few hours a week. Right now there is nothing listed for the Brigham City area, but Salt Lake has quite a bit - and really neat sounding volunteer jobs too.

So if you know about a service project or organization that is looking for volunteers, please let them know about serve.gov. Right now the library has a lot of volunteers and we're not sure if we can take on any more, but when something opens up, we'll be sure to post it there.

And thanks to everyone who's making all of our lives better by volunteering in the community.

Elizabeth
