"The Librarians" in Australia

Librarians are getting a bit of TV time these days with the movie series "The Librarian" portrayed by Noah Wyle and now I hear about a TV series in Australia that might be coming to the United States. It is called the "The Librarians" (catchy titles). This series is set in a humble, suburban library and centers on the trials and tribulations of Frances O'Brien, a devout Catholic and head librarian. Frances' life unravels when she is forced to employ her ex-best friend, Christine - now facing criminal charges - as the children's librarian.

The writers of the show say that the library is one of the few remaining free spaces in our communities and "It's one of the last places you can go to now where you get heating or cooling and a copy of the newspaper for nothing, so naturally it attracts every freak under the sun". (Hmmm... well, sorry they said that not me...) They also said "We were going there with our young daughter a lot for story time, which is basically an hour of relief for very anxious young parents" and "it jumped out at us, "gee there's a lot of very interesting people here." "Any place you're told to be serious and quiet goes against the grain, and induces a response that can be comedy gold".

I was going to post a bit of it from u-tube, but the one I chose to look at let out one very loud bad word a few times so I quickly had to turn the speakers down. It looks like the show could be a bit on the raunchy side. The show will probably go straight to HBO if it gets picked up. You just never know about those librarians...
