Olympics on the Web



Since we're right in the middle of the Olympics now, here are some websites where you can find out more about the atheletes and their sports.



Official Website of the Olympic Movement: http://www.olympic.org/
This is for grades 5 and up - A comprehensive site from the history of the Olympic movement to an explanation of how an Olympics city is chosen. Readers can also learn about more than 25,000 Olympic athletes.


For grades 6 and up - Engaging articles on four winter Olympic sports: bobsledding, biathlon, luge, and snowboarding. Necessary equipment and training are discussed with color photos, maps, and graphics.

For grades 5 and up - This site was created by a group of dedicated Olympic historians and statisticians. the easy-to-use site offers pages on all of the games and every athlete, sport, and participating country.


For grades 5 and up - A good source of up-to-date news on U.S. and other athletes.


For grades 5 and up - Olympic fans can track the medal county of each participating country, catch up on the latest news, along with information on each sport and more than 100 athletes, current and legendary.
