Creativity: March is National Craft Month

The library display case this month will be holding crafts done by staff members in celebration of National Craft Month.

I have been having a hard time finishing some of my projects in the Craft area, especially some of my large quilts. I have been doing more paper crafts like stamping on paper, making cards for gifts, etc. My last quilt was an Asian Inspired Wall Hanging. that you see above. The bamboo is appliqued. The Ginko leaves in the border are foiled with metallic foil.

I have been making little projects like cards and felting. The work above is a wool felted pincushion. Of course, it is too pretty to stick pins in...so it is on a bookshelf in my bedroom/sewing room.

This year I decided to make a series of cards to give for Christmas next December. My next will be a birthday card. And then two Easter cards.

I am starting to make fabric postcards...a suggestion from someone from the Art Quilters listserv. I have two started one that will be made of felt and one of fabric.

Wish me luck and hope your March is a creative one filled with play and experimentation.

“When we engage in what we are naturally suited to do, our work takes on the quality of play and it is play that stimulates creativity.” – Linda Naiman

“The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” — Alan Alda

What is your craft of choice and what are you working on? Are you into scrapbooking or watercolor painting? Share your ideas and passions.
