2010 Utah Children's Book Award Winners

The Utah Children's Literature Assocation of Utah, affectionately referred to as CLAU, announced it's winners for the Utah Children's Book Award, or Beehive award in 2010.

The winners are:
For Children's Fiction-- The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas

For Picture Book-- When Dinosaurs came with Everything
by Elise Broach
For Informational Book-- How Big is it? A Big Book All about Bigness by Ben Hillman
For Poetry-- Oh Theodore! Guinea Pig Poems by Susan Katz
For Young Adult Fiction-- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

One thing that makes this award especially unique is that the books are voted on by children from preschool to 18 years of age. Adults on the committee (made up of many librarians and other book lovers) create the nominee list and children in libraries and schools across Utah can vote for their favorites.

Nominees for the 2011 awards can be found at the Children's Literature Association website: http://www.clau.org/
