I don't know if author Ann Patchett has spent time with an isolated tribe in the Amazon jungle, but after reading State of Wonder I feel like I have. With a compelling plot, vivid scenes and characters that seem to live and breath on their own this was a hard book to put down. I will definitely be trying her earlier books.
