Community Outreach

During the month of October I am often asked to tell scary halloween stories for cub scout pack meetings and other groups. I do this as a free service and community outreach to local groups. It gives me a chance to introduce children and their families to myself and some of the stories and resources available at the library. If I am unavailable we have other local experienced storytellers that are willing to come and tell for a small fee.

If your group needs a story teller you may contact me at the library to schedule a time for me to visit or I will put you in touch with some of our local tellers.

Story Telling

The Utah State University Center of the American West, in Wellsville is sponsoring Spooky Story telling on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in October. Stories are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m. Families who are visiting the center for the corn maze and for the "Fright Lights" display can hear stories with their entrance fee. The story tellers are all from Brigham City and include, two of our staff members. Joyce Dean the library Secretary/Book keeper, will be telling on October 17th and October 25th, and Michele Schumann, our Children's Librarian will be telling on 15th and 22nd. Other story tellers are Susan Neidert, of the Brigham City Fine Arts Center, Carri Hunt the Librarian from Foothill Elementary, Claudia Olyer the Librarian from Lakeview Elementary, and Sherry Grenko. To add to the fun all story tellers are in halloween costumes.

Spooky fun, appropriate for most of the family! Come and enjoy the lost art of a good tale.
