Superhero Training Camp

We had an amazing time at our Superhero training camp! This was held in conjunction with our summer storytime classes and followed the theme, "Every hero has a story".  Many thanks to our local heroes and visitors! The children enjoyed learning how police officers and fire fighters and EMT's help people and are everyday heroes. You may notice that many of the kids chose to wear their super hero T-shirts and costumes today.

Indy got to try on the fire fighter boots and try and walk!

Owen tried on the fire helmet. It was heavy!

Noah tried on the coat, boots and helmet.
After our visitors, we began our training. We had the following stations: Lazer maze, brick wall smash, villain capture ring toss, lava pit rescue, villain catapult, weapon training pool noodle throw, agility test ping pong ball bounce. At the end of training we sat down to rest and watch an old Superman cartoon from the 1950's. Finally we took everyone outside and ate popsicles. What a great, fun way to end our Storytime session!
Crawl, roll or step over the red laser beams to get outside.

Rescue the bear, but don't fall in the hot lava!

Shake the ping pong balls out of your basket with out using your hands.

A shout out to Mr. Lorenzo Schumann for building our catapults! They work great!

Everyone got a chance to use their super punch or super kick to knock down the wall.

Mrs. Edwards rebuilds the brick wall for the next person.

Pool noodle throw. We used hula hoops for our targets.

Officer Weeks told us that we should learn our address, phone number and parent's names just in case we ever get lost.

Officer Weeks showed us his gun, taser, and baton. He uses these tools to protect us and protect himself.

One more thanks to all the Mom's, Grandma's and Grandpa's who attended and helped with their children. Many hands make light work! Thanks to those to stayed to help clean up too.

Children's Librarian
