Born on a Blue Day

I just finished reading "Born on a Blue Day: inside the extraordinary mind of an Austistic Savant" a memoir by Daniel Tammet. I couldn't put the book down, it was so interesting. You want to know more about Daniel, austism, and asperger's syndrome. Daniel's extraordinary ability to memorize numbers came to national attention when he volunteered to memorize and recount pi to 22,514 digits for a charity challenge in aid of the National Society for Epilepsy (Daniel also has epilepsy). Daniel experiences synesthia, an unusual neurological syndrome that enables him to experience numbers and words as "shapes, colors, textures and motions". Because of this, he is also able to learn languages extremely fast. He learned Icelandic, a very complex and difficult language, in one week. He makes his living through internet language courses he has developed. Check out his site at http://www.optimnem.co.uk/
