Magazines

Its time again to place our annual magazine subscription order with EBSCO. We order most of our magazines through them so they manage all the problems with renewal dates, missing magazines, etc. We order many of our magazines because they are indexed through something called the Reader's Guide. This guide came in very handy before magazines were indexed on computer databases because you could look for a magazine article by subject or author. Otherwise, you'd have to thumb through every magazine looking for the article you wanted. We keep the Reader's Guide in the magazine room so you might want to take a look at it the next time you're searching for a magazine article.

That's off track of what I wanted to write about though. I'd like your input on the magazines we have at the library. We want to carry magazines that you, the library user, want to read. If it is a magazine we think other patrons would be interested in, we'll try to get it. You'll notice we don't have too much room in the magazine room, though, and our budget isn't huge, so sometimes we'll have to cancel a magazine to get another title. Please let me know, post a suggestion here, or tell any other library employee, about a magazine title you'd really like to see at the library.

Hi Sue,

Maybe you already have these and I just need to stop and read them, but these are some magazines I buy from time to time and find to be interesting reading:
New Yorker
Harpers
Atlantic Monthly
Utne Reader

Thanks,
Brad Mortensen
