Lately it seems that a book will hardly hit the shelves before the movie rights are bought up. Not that I'm complaining, I have seen a lot of good movies based on books and even some that I have gone to read the book because I enjoyed the movie so much. (I always think the book is much better.) Some, however are based on books from the past. Some of the remakes could have been left alone, but some came out better than ever.

I have heard some people say that they prefer not to watch a movie from a book they loved, they prefer to keep the characters as they imagined them. Sometimes, I agree. Occasio
nally I will see a character and think, "What was the casting director thinking?" Usually, though, I see a movie from a story I'm familiar with and go away with a new perspective, sometimes going back and reading the book again to see if I really missed parts, or were the screen writers taking creative license. I get exceedingly irritated when the movie is nothing like the book (Dean Koontz's for example.)
