I was excited this morning when I logged on the State Library's website to see they are now offering free video downloads just as they do the audiobook downloads. This is a trial database that will last 6 months. At that time, the State Library will decide if this is a service worth purchasing. If you want to try it out, go to http://pioneer.utah.gov/ and in the bottom, right-hand corner there is a little box that says MyLibrarydv - click on that. On the next page, you'll want to scroll down to "instructions for all other libraries" and register first - before you try to download anything. On the registration page click on "new user of pioneer", fill out the requested information and you'll be given a code to use when you login. After you finish the registration, go back and download MyLibrarydv.
Movies check out for 7 days and you can download 10 movies. You can delete movies once you've watched them, but they'll count towards your 10 check outs until the 7 day period is over. The selection is a little disappointing right now, but maybe that is because the service is brand new. If you like travel videos, they have a lot of those available. Perhaps the more people who use this trial will influence the State Library to get a larger selection.
