Peach Days at the Library

Crowds of people are swarming through the library this morning. There was a huge line waiting for us to open our doors after the Peach Days parade. Most of them headed downstairs to see what was left of the booksale and the rest headed to the bathrooms. Today is the $1 a bag sale so the books are clearing out pretty fast. For $1 a bag, people will buy almost anything. The busiest part of the library, today, will be the bathrooms. We'll run out of toilet paper, the toilets will get clogged, women will wait in line, the janitor will come and fix everything and we'll start over again. Even at that, it's so much better than the porta-potties.

We've got our Andean music on to join the festivities and staff wanders in and out to tell those of us who are working what we are or are not missing. The smells of hot dogs and hamburgers waft into the building all day and stir up the appetite until you can't wait to get outside and buy something at the food court.

A few hardy patrons will try to come in and check out books but they will only let people with special event or handicapped tags into the parking lot so its a bit of a challenge to get here today. Even staff has trouble finding parking. Well, back to work - stop and say hello as you walk through to use the restroom.
