Hot Summer

With the hot weather we see different kinds of damage to books coming back to the library. I must admit that I was recently one of those people who damaged the case to a book on cd. I hadn't realized that leaving the case in my car for a week would cause the case to get so hot it warped and would not close well. I'm mentioning it here in case anyone else hadn't given that a thought. It does get very, very hot in our cars as they sit in the sun for any length of time. Other damage we see more in the summertime are wet or sandy books that have been on vacation to the swimming pool or the beach. Pink or red stains also seem more prevalent (from punch or Popsicles). Popsicle sticks tend to make sticky bookmarks too.
