Who Knew?
I found a few interesting statistics in our library database today. Did you know that the Brigham City Library has 60, 575 books? That comes to about 4.5 books for each of our 13,367 patrons. From 2000(when we got the current system) to 2008 we had a circulation total of 1,773,929 that's about 221,741 per year. That makes an average of 769 items, checked out on each and every one of the 288 days per year that we are open. If you average the numbers that means that each of those 13,367 patrons checked out 16.5 books last year. Of course, we know that some people checked out a lot more than the average.
What was the most checked out book of the last year? Twlight by Stephanie Meyer. No big surprise there. A close second was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
On the down side have you ever wondered how much money is owed in overdue library fines? Today that number stands at $25,816.72! Wow! Just think of all the books we could by for that price.
This year the city goal is "Making Life Better" through public works. The city wants each of its departments to work on making a difference in the lives of our citizens. As you can see the library changes lives for the better just by opening it's doors.
Do you have a suggestion on how we can improve our services? Let us know your ideas here or come in and tell us, we would like to hear your suggestions!
