A real Bargain

We have had some patrons ask if we will be closing during the upcoming earthquake retrofitting. The short answer is no, but if they have asbestos or lead issues the answers could be maybe, for a few days. So then concerned patrons, who pay for their library card, have asked if we will refund part of their non-resident fee, to cover the days that we are closed.

Interesting question and a valid one, I suppose. So, out of curiosity, I figured up what a daily "refund" amount would be for a $60 yearly non-resident fee. 365 days per year, subtract 52 Sundays- 12 closed Fridays - 12 Holidays = 289. Divide $60 by 289 and you get, .20, if your family has more than one card divide the .20 by the number of cards per family and you might get .10, or .05 cents.

What it comes down to is that you don't really pay all that much for our services. Is a refund really necessary?

Let us know what you think!
