Losing Mum and Pup

"Losing Mum and Pup" by Christopher Buckley is a memoir about Chris's experiences with his larger than life parents William F. Buckley Jr. and Patricia Taylor Buckley during the end of their lives and who both died within a year of one another. Here's another couple that I wish I'd paid more attention to when they were alive as this book sparked my interest in them. Christopher's mother must have been a beauty and quite the hostess. She was always on the best-dressed list. His father was very Catholic, loved to sail and a bit of a frump when it came to what he wore. Both were very strong willed and liked things to go their way. Since many baby-boomers are dealing with the death of parents now, this book offers some consolation, wit and warmth for those becoming orphans in their 50's and 60's.

We have one other book by Christopher Buckley, "Supreme Courtship". There are 12 other titles by him listed in the front of this most current book. His father was a quick writer and wrote fifty-six books. He could dash off a seven-hundred word column in five minutes. At one time, he dictated the last chapter of his memoir about Barry Goldwater to Christopher and it didn't save on the computer so he completely re-dictated the chapter, practically verbatim. We have four books and four netlibrary books available by William F. Buckley Jr.

I can't quite do the book justice so watch the clip.
