Step Out On Nothing

The National Center For Family Literacy is excited to announce that Byron Pitts, the Emmy-winning CBS national correspondent and 60 Minutes contributor, will join its board of advisors. He will be speaking at the April 2010 conference in Texas about his overcoming illiteracy and a stuttering problem with the help of his mother, a college roommate and educators. He has chronicled his story in a new book Step Out on Nothing: How Faith and Family Helped Me Conquer Life's Challenges. All of the net proceeds from the sale of the book on BetterWorldBooks.com will go to the NCFL. In addition, he has become the first author to join NCFL's A Penny A Book initiative to benefit family literacy across the country. As part of the promotion of his new book, Byron is collecting other family literacy success stories. You can also learn more about his story and hear him read from his book in the video below.
