Volunteer Tutor Training

On Tuesday and Wednesday, November 3 & 4, the Literacy Program will offer a training for those interested in volunteering as tutors. Each evening we will start at 6:30 and run to 8 or 8:30, depending on the number of people present. We will meet downstairs in the library and have refreshments and lots of materials for volunteers to use as references while they tutor.
Tutoring is very flexible. As a trained tutor, you will then be on file to call when a student comes into the office for help in reading and/or improving their English language skills. So it may be several months before you are even tutoring or the next week! We just never know~
You and the student set up a schedule that works for both of you, mornings, afternoons, or evenings, one or two hours a week.
As Leonard Nimoy said, "The miracle is this~ the more we share, the more we have." And as those who have volunteered know, this is so often the case.
If you are interested please give Diane a call at the library. We look forward to hearing from you.
