It's the FIRST SATURDAY of every month from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. and includes:
- Admission to the Science Museum
- Activities (Hands-on)
- Science Presentations
- Planetarium Shows
This video gives a nice preview of what Science Saturday is and how it originated, but keep in mind that it's an old video and their schedule has changed since it was made - Remember it's now the FIRST SATURDAY of each month from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. (And there isn't a Science Saturday Scheduled in January because of the New Year's holiday. Be sure to check their website if you have any questions about the dates.)

They've also started a Bag o' Science program that can be done at home. The project is actually given to the first 100 families who come to Science Saturday or there are instructions for the projects on their website. December's activity involves crystal formation
And there's also a Passport to Science program where the kids can earn science prizes by coming to Science Saturdays.

Yes to all you said!
This is a great way for kids (and parents) to learn some science. My wife and I have taken our kids twice and, for a free science fair, the list of displays is staggering: volcanoes; bacteria; air quality; chromatography; optical illusions; paleontology; insects; reptiles; healthy teeth; and germs, to name some.
There are shows in the planetarium every half-hour, and most of the other displays have fun, hands-on activities. Our kids are already looking forward to the fair in December.
