The Third Angel

The Third Angel by Alice Hoffman was a quick read. I usually love books by Alice Hoffman, they always have a bit of mysticism to them. They make you wonder, was it really magic, or the supernatural, or just everyday life? I wasn't too sure about this book when it first started out. I didn't know if I was in the mood to read about how three different women each fell in love with the wrong man. I thought things might turn out badly for all of them. Once you start reading, however, the book draws you in and you can't put it down. Part of that is due to the long chapters and some sections that are pretty long before a break occurs. Each chapter is a different woman's story and many of the characters connect in another chapter some way or another. There are quite a few names to keep in mind so you can remember what happened to them in the previous chapters and how they relate to the current chapter's characters. In the end, I liked the book, and was left feeling that maybe there was a "third angel".
